The competition can be stiff and getting an advantage is important.
A well designed website plays a big part in running a successful business in the modern age. For dental practices, the importance is even greater. Winning a potential patient’s trust can mean a long and prosperous relationship, and that all starts with a first impression.
There are no shortages of dentists, particularly in big cities. The competition can be stiff and getting an advantage is important. After researching hundreds of different dentist websites we noticed a clear opportunity. Very few dental practices had embraced social media, search engine optimization or any kind of marketing services.
More importantly, most of the websites we looked at were… well, poor. Most sites weren’t using a responsive layout. They used too much text, navigation around the site was difficult, and in general they felt very unprofessional. Not what dentists are going for given the nature of their work.
The few practices that stood out had a thoughtful website design and almost invited us in for a quick check up!
Today we’re looking at some of the dental practices that recognized the opportunity and created brilliant websites to reflect their brand:
1. Zen Dental Studio
Zen Dental Studio have taken a clean, minimal approach to their website design. Unlike most generic dentist websites they haven’t over-cluttered the page. They’ve used simple navigation, a relatively neutral color pallet and some easily consumed calls to action.
2. Josh Berds, DDS & Associates
Josh Berds, DDS and Associates showcase a beautifully modern and simple website. High quality photography combined with attractive typography makes their copy really easy to consume. There are only a handful of different layout sections but they’ve been presented in order of importance. From how to find them and what their services are, to testimonials and finally some more personal trust-building information. Clearly a well thought out design.
3. Washington Park Square Dental
Washington Park Square Dental’s website feels very tidy. Each fold of the page is neatly organized, presenting one main informational theme. Their color scheme is consistent and works nicely to highlight the different sections of their design.
4. London Smile
London Smile employs a cool logo and bright pink color scheme. Their hero section showcases some really high quality photography advertising two of their big services (veneers and invisalign). Below the first fold they build social proof with three striking images noting how much work experience they’ve accumulated. This site follows a lot of the design best practice.
5. Mid Wilshire Dentistry
Mid Wilshire Dentistry leans on full width background photography and attention grabbing headlines. They’ve also brought in some small animations in their logo and navigation elements. The overall effect makes the site feel interactive and well polished.
6. JJ Teeth
JJ Teeth takes a different approach in presenting information through their website. Where most dental practices use text, they have used video and images. Their hero section has a huge html5 video playing in the background. Further down the page they have an explainer video and interactive panels showing their past work.
7. The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium
The Cosmetic and Dental Emporium looks almost looks like an art-deco website with a dentist theme. This site follows less of a traditional “conversion” focused design. By utilizing black and white headshots and a clean esthetic they create an immersive user journey.
8. City Gentle Dental
City Gentle Dental is the best example we found of a website not doing too much. There are really only five main sections of the page and each displays a minimum amount of information. Because the information isn’t battling for attention, it is easy to consume and gives the site a clean and professional feel.
9. Hyde Park Dental Care
Hyde Park Dental uses a green and gray color scheme to draw the user’s attention to the important design elements across the page. Their page isn’t long but it manages to do quite a bit. They include a contact form, interactive map, introduction video, and overview of their services.
10. Hobart Family Dental
Hobart Dental definitely win the title of “cutest website”. Their website is broken into several big grid sections, making it an orderly and simple experience. The strong blue and orange color scheme and a cute family of cartoon teeth make for a memorable brand.
